June 2009 AGM Minutes
Here's a summary of what we discussed and what we decided.
Location
There were many ideas thrown around. We have chosen to stay at our current meeting location, with the possibility of holding meetings with speakers off site.
Everyone was assigned homework to research locations close to the Marlatt Funeral Home that would be affordable to us, could accommodate knitters and a speaker or workshop. Please bring this info to the September meeting.
Anne Pennington will call to book our fall dates and to inquire about how we could work with the staff to organize the furniture to suit our needs a little better.
Important to note- The group does not pay any fees to use the house.

Executive
I am officially retired as Head Knitter. Anyone willing to step up and fill this job should let me know. Please.
Pam and I will stay on as treasurers and membership organizers.
Mandi will stay on as secretary. We need a back up secretary. Any volunteers?
We have formed a new Programming Committee. The goal of this committee is to book speakers and organize workshops.
Ruth and Theresa have agreed to take on these responsibilities.
Membership and Dues
Membership dues will stay at $25.
Visitors are invited to join us for 1 free meeting. If they opt to join, they pay $25 dues.
Visitors joining us on speaker nights will pay a $10, though this will be waived if they opt to join and pay $25 dues instead.
Membership will include a membership card. Many yarn stores will give a discount so be sure to ask. Needle Emporium and Spun give 10% off to guild members.
Only members will be included in the door prize draw.
Only members can attend the Annual General Meeting. Well, visitors can attend but don't have any voting rights.
One the same topic we have decided to keep the blog running until December, then decide if it is worth continuing. We will advertise in the Hamilton Spectator for the September meeting. We will re-evaluate the need for the ads on a monthly basis.
Thanks to Anne and Mandi for this.
This new information about dues and membership will be printed out and made available to new and returning members in the Fall.
The September meeting is Tuesday September 1st. It will be a meet and greet, summer show and tell and getting ready for the K-W Knitter's Fair.
Thanks to everyone for a great season and happy summer knitting!!

March's Meeting
This month we were lucky enough to have Jane Edmondson from Dye-Version http://www.dyeversion.com come and speak with us. Jane gave a very entertaining and interesting talk about using colour in knitting projects, and dying yarn. She also spoke about some of the different fibres that are now available. Jane brought along a HUGE selection of her different yarns. I was unable to leave without purchasing some for my stash!
For those of you that were interested in trying some of your own yarn dying, here is the link to the store Jane mentioned: G & S Dye http://www.gsdye.com
Don’t forget to mark the Downtown Knit Collective’s 12th Annual Knitters Frolic on your calendar! http://www.downtownknitcollective.ca/dkc_frolic.html The marketplace is open on Saturday April 25th from 9am to 4pm. Admission is $5. Check the website for a list of the workshops that are offered.
Have a great March! See you at the next meeting on Tuesday April 7th, 2009.

February's Meeting
Why does it always seem to snow on Guild nights? We had a
quiet turnout at the meeting this month. Once again we
welcomed a few new members! Welcome to the group ladies!
We had a question and answer session- some members brought
in questions about knitting, or problems they had encountered
and addressed the group. We had some very good discussions!
Next month we are having Jane Edmondson from Dye-Version
coming to talk about colour.
Happy knitting and see you on Tuesday March 3, 2009 at 7pm!

It was a very quiet night tonight at the meeting.
It was snack and knit night. We had a few treats: Ruth brought some "fibre" shortbread cookies (...mmmm...melt in your mouth!) and Tara brought some yummy brownies!
